Yancey is an artist and designer living in Portland, Oregon. After growing up in cities across the country, she returned to Portland in the mid 90’s because it was the place she always felt was home. Upon returning she began studying graphic design and through the years has continued pursuing her desire to paint, draw, and play with color. She believes that everyone is creative—and finding one’s creative voice is a crucial piece to our personal development both as an individual and as a community.
Creating art is a practice. It's the courage and curiosity to show up each day to make a mark that brings the practice to life. Yancey enjoys helping people find ways to push themselves through and around blocks that arise and they usually get a good laugh at the beliefs and mindsets that try trip us up along the way. She believes that when you can freely transform a blank page, you can trust yourself to create anything. That deep knowing is a powerful feeling.
Making art opens conversations. It compels you to make decisions and with every decision, you begin to listen more closely, noticing, observing, and being with what is.
